Minister Rudi Medved at the ministerial meeting of the OECD Council

Paris, 22 May 2019 - Ministerial delegation of the Slovenian government is attending the Ministerial Council Meeting of the OECD.

It is the largest annual event of this international organization, which is taking place on 22 and 23 May 2019 at its headquarters in Paris. The ministerial meeting is organized as part of the "OECD Week", which began on May 20 and 21, 2019 with the OECD Forum, an event dedicated to involving the public from government, business, trade union and civil society circles, and the media. The main topic of this year's Ministerial Council Meeting is digital transformation.


At today's meeting, the ministers discussed the exploitation of the potential of digital transformation and the role that governments can play in this regard. They agreed that international cooperation plays an important role. The meeting continued in three separate discussions in which ministers highlighted the digital transformation from the point of view of competitiveness and digital security. They emphasized that digital transformation necessarily required new skills, education and employment.


Minister Medved explained Slovenia's position in a separate debate on digital security, privacy and consumer protection.


On the margin of the meeting, Minister Medved also met with his Polish counterpart, Karol Okonski. He informed the Polish colleague of the planned event within the Presidential Initiative of the Three Seas, which will take place on 5 and 6 June 2019 in Ljubljana. The focus will also be on digital transformation and information security.
